For the return, we drop our stuff at the hotel, drop the car, then take the hotel shuttle in the morning. Gets us into the room quickly after arrival, saves a car rental day, and we don't worry about the security of our stuff as it's in the hotel.

We usually stay at either the Homewood Suites, or the Hyatt Place right by the airport. They're fine. Note the Homewood Suites didn't have a bar or alcohol the last time we were there. It does have multiple bedroom suites at reasonable prices. The Hyatt Place 2 bed rooms have doubles, not queens.

We always stayed in the Taos Ski Valley.

We stayed twice at the Hotel St Bernard, which was an incredible experience. The food and the atmosphere were amazing. It was run by the head of the ski school and his brother so in addition to their french cuisine, they specialized in "ski better weeks." You left with improved skiing and having made friends for life. Many patrons booked the same week every year. With the original owners passing, and the hotel's infrastructure being in need of serious repair, the families sold to the Ski Area's owner and it was razed over the summer. The promise is that the new dining area and lobby will be "restored" ad that the original families will be the operators. I hope they don't lose the chefs.

Of late, we have been doing VRBO's and Air B&B's in the ski valley. We now need a 6 br rental, so that will put us down into Arroyo Seco for the next trip.

If you do go to Taos to ski, take the "Ski Better Week", now called "Snowsports Week". It's geared towards making adults more able to use the advances in ski technology to ski better. It's a lot of fun. It's also a great way to get to know a mountain with a lot of secrets.
