San Diego Convention Center Doubles in Size
 

The San Diego Convention Center held the ribbon-cutting ceremony for its $216 million expansion on Friday. The project, which had been delayed several years because of various lawsuits and contractual issues, nearly doubles the size of the original center. Among the additions are 276,000 square feet of exhibit space, a 40,000-square-foot ballroom and 40 meeting rooms. The city also plans to build a convention center hotel and a boutique hotel on property adjacent to the center, pending funding approval.
