Consolidated "Parking in Downtown Denver" thread
I'm looking for a hotel in downtown Denver that
1. had free hotel parking for guests 2. doesn't actively validate at enter/leaving or during the stay that the people parking in the garage are actually staying at the hotel I'm staying at another hotel nearby (the curtis) in a couple of weekends and their parking fees are outrageous (and this is coming from me, who is used to washington DC and NYC parking rates), especially considering we have 2 cars we are taking for our family. So yeah, looking to cheat a little. PM me or reply here if you have suggestions on where to park. |
I don't think you'll find a hotel in downtown Denver that has free parking.
You could park at the nearby Denver Pavilions parking lot for $14 a day. http://www.denverpavilions.com/infocontact.html There are also uncovered lots that you may use, but their prices fluctuate with events. |
The convention center is also very close to the Auraria campus - University of Colorado at Denver and other colleges - so if there is a free parking space or two (and I can't imagine there is) I can guarantee you a college student has already found it and is occupying it. :D :D :D
Surface lots are probably your best bet. 14th Street and Glenarm or 14th Street and Tremont have lots that are often $5 a day, but they of course may be higher if there's a saturation event at the convention center. |
Downtown Denver Parking Garages??
Will have a rental car, wondering if anyone knows firsthand if there are garages downtown to park in instead of using hotel parking?
|
If you are just going downtown and that it look to use transportation with the light rail lines.
There are some hotels right next to stations outside of downtown where parking will likely be free. I look to using other means if I know I am not using the car because in major cities having a car you dont use equates to about $100/day |
Where in downtown are you going? There are some surface lots near the Wells Fargo building (look for the giant cash register) that are cheaper than a garage.
|
Dont know yet...

Thanks! |
OP here....
Will be staying at the Hyatt at convention center. Not on business.
Am checking Google now, but anyone know firsthand of a close, cheap garage or lot nearby?? Thanks!! |
IS this current?
Found this dated 2010, anyone know if this is current?
The cost to park 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. Monday through Saturday would run $9. A two-hour limit would still be enforced from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and midnight to 10 p.m. Sunday. |
I live in downtown Denver. If you have to rent a car, I would look at just using the hotel parking. Any surface lot or garage will not give you any in/out privileges, so you are paying the higher "first hour" charges each time. Additionally, the surface lots require prepayment and it is sometimes not possible to pay for multiple days, requiring you to go back out and pay again to display another receipt on your dash. Although some parking meters in Denver now allow overnight parking, they are installing many sensors that during the daytime, check to make sure your car is moved every two hours. At the end of the day, you probably won't be able to save enough money to justify the headache.
There is a cheap parking garage at DCPA, adjacent to the convention center, but no overnight parking is possible. For the day, it's something like $5 for in by 9, out by 5:30. I would lose the rental car and cab/shuttle into downtown instead, and for the days you'd really need a car, there is an Enterprise on site at the Hyatt and Avis/Hertz/Budget nearby (walkable) as well. If you use Avis, you can usually return at the airport for no extra charge, so you can put your sightseeing at the end of the trip. As a bonus, you can save paying the airport taxes on your car rental this way. I hope you enjoy Denver. |
Bringing back an old thread. I'll be staying at the Embassy Suites Denver Downtown on a Thursday night. Arrive at the hotel around 11am, depart 11am next day and don't plan to use the car.
Any ideas of cheaper and safe parking options near the hotels? Thanks in advance. |
Self Parking Near Grand Hyatt Denver
We are going to be staying at the Grand Hyatt on Welton Street in downtown Denver. The hotel wants $35/day to park. Are there less expensive options nearby to park?
I want to use transit to get from the airport to downtown, but the bus appears to only run once a hour on weekends and holidays which could result in a long wait. That is why I have reserved a car, hence the need for parking of same. Thanks for any information. |
The convention center is $25 for 24 hrs.
Pavillions might also be an option. |
You may consider a taxi at the flat rate of around $54. There may be a little savings on parking to be had but not much, especially if there is a special event, or if you need in and out privileges.

Parking Downtown Denver
I am coming to Denver for a meeting, staying at the Sheraton Downtown and going to St Josephs Hospital.
Can I get cheaper parking near the hotel less than $49/night What about parking near the hospital? I am going to have free time and traveling alone so want to go out and see the town TIA |
