What to do in Santa Fe, NM
 

Hey everybody, I live in chicago and my friend lives in Texas. We are meeting in Santa Fe for Labor Day weekend. I am just looking for any thoughts and ideas, dos or don'ts because neither have us have ever been there before. We enjoy music, hiking, sports, and nature. Any great places to stay? Please let me know what you think or if I can make this any more specific. Thanks

We go about three or four times per year. Your description is pretty generic. How many days? Since it sounds like you have never been, I would stay downtown by the plaza somewhere. the plaza is the tourist are of town. Be sure to There are plenty of places to stay. We always stay at the Hilton Santa Fe, as it is about two blocks to the plaza and they allow dogs.

Visit santafe.org and they have plenty of things to do and listings of hotels. Just outside town, there are plenty of hiking trails to explore. While there is some nightlife, the sidewalks tend to roll up pretty quick at night. If you are interested, pm and I'll give you a list of the restaurants we hit.

Be sure to at least look into the spiral staircase at Lorreto Church. It has two 360 sprials with no support. Canyon Road has some neat restaurants and galleries to spend the day exploring.
