Dinner in Denver
If a person could only enjoy one dinner in Denver, where should they go? Something very Denver-ish..that says "Welcome to Denver." All cuisines open, no preference.

Southwestern - Jack N Grill (25th & Federal) - New Mexican Style, fantastic burritos and green chile, surprisingly good burgers.
Steak/Meat - The Fort (Morrison, CO) - Not the best 'steakhouse'. But seems to be a sort of iconic Denver place. Alternately, the Buckhorn Exchange (10th and Osage), where I tend to think the food is a bit better. I'm not sure what else I can think of that would be a 'Denver' meal, though there are plenty of other fantastic restaurants in the city. Fruition does farm-to-table pretty well, I love Mizuna, Domo does the best Japanese food in town (ignore anyone who thinks Sushi Den is better... sort of kidding :P)... |

Thank you thank you
Great! I will check them out! Thanks:)

If you like a good steak, go the Elways at Cherry Creek. You won't be disappointed. Trust me.

You joke, but I will have a meal there in 2 weeks. We left Denver 35 years ago and are going back for a week. Casa Bonita is one of the few places I can return to.

Personally, I'd go to Chipotle  Started in Denver ^ |
Morton's? Are you serious? You can go to Morton's in almost every major city in the U.S. How is that "Denver-ish" as the OP stated?

Yes, I am serious. Even though they are around the country, I don't see any advantage to visiting Elway's. IMO, they are overpriced, and the food quality is bit poor.

Wait, 'can' or 'have to'? I had to go back a few months ago for a work thing... The food was still pretty inedible, outside of the sopapillas. The odder thing was trying to match my memories from friends' birthday parties (from all of 20 years ago) to what I was seeing as an adult. Funny how few things matched to what I remembered, even though the place seems to have barely changed.

A few minutes south of Denver, the Old Stone Church Restaurant.
In my top 5 restaurant meals. |

I don't remember the food at all. We may not eat much, but I want to see if the place matches my memories. Seriously, I don't think we'll recognize much of Denver (where we lived) or Boulder (where I worked) from 35 years ago.

What do you guys think of Rioja in Denver? I think it was a good restaurant for a reasonable price.

I've heard good things, but I'm intrigued by the 'reasonable price' comment. Looking over their dinner menu, that seems on the way upper end of what I'd ever pay for a meal in Denver. Granted I don't bother with the steakhouses here (Oliver's or Marcyzk's generally have better meat anyways), so maybe that's the difference?

I think it is reasonable price for the same quality meal in say NYC but is definitely more expensive than the average Denver restaurant (but well worth it in my opinion.)
