Velocity Maintenance Outage
As you might be aware, the entire Velocity system, including points bookings, was unavailable for about 5 days late last week.
During this time, I booked a Melbourne -> Brisbane flight for around $280. I wanted to use points + pay (11,800 + $39), but the option was unavailable.
Today it is, and I asked for my booking to be cancelled/changed.
The first time I rang, they said they were unaware of any Velocity downtime.
The 2nd time, they said sure, they can cancel my $280 booking and change it to a new points + pay booking.
However, during the time I was on hold, the points + pay prices changed, and they said they can no longer give me a reward seat:

Has anyone had any luck getting some form of assistance from Virgin due to Velocity outage, or just incompetent responses?
