VA Gold flying SIN - First time tips

In a few days time I'm flying BNE to CDG in economy with Singapore air. I am Velocity Gold and I understand I am entitled to priority check-in, luggage and boarding. My question is do I need to do anything special to get all of my priority boarding all the way through or do I need to just have my velocity card with me? I only ever fly domestic and this is my first time flying international long haul so I'm a little bit lost any advice is welcome TIA

If you’ve input your Velocity details into the booking then your status should be on the boarding passes.

SQ economy is pretty decent. Try the Singapore Sling cocktail on board.

Use the business check-in and ask about bulkhead/exit seats on check-in, as if you have Gold they will often put you in these seats free of charge at the airport. They will also sometimes block the seat next to you if it is a low load flight.

SQ priority Boarding is a bit hit and miss and not always signed for Golds in Y. In practice just use the business class queue unless there is a signed queue for Star Gold that is separate the the economy queue.

I've not flown from BNE on SQ so not sure of your lounge options but the KrisFlyer lounges at SQ outstations are normally pretty good. In SIN you use the Krisflyer Gold lounge which is not great but not terrible either. it has no toilets or showers so if you want a shower and have Priority Pass/Lounge Key you might be better off with a third party contract lounge (there are several at SIN).

There is a relatively newish SQ lounge in BNE, smallish with limited food offerings. I don’t mind the lounge in Singapore, caveat with those comments is I have never done a connection via Singapore where I may have appreciated a shower or similar.

I was eventually successful in using the Star Alliance Gold priority queue today for Y boarding SQ at Wlg, but my boarding pass was queried and 2 agents had to have a side chat before allowing me on...

Quick wrap up,

I took my VA card with me and used business counters for all check in's. I was given exit row seats on each flight at no charge and BNE-SIN and SIN-BNE I think they may have blocked out the exit seat next to me so I had the exit row near the door over the wing all to myself (Row 47 where the "window" seat is deleted). I boarded with business class and my boarding pass did say "Partner Gold" and I was not ever queried, it was nice to be able to claim the nearest overhead and sort myself out without feeling rushed.

Overall the SQ service was just excellent and even though I was flying economy I felt like I was somewhere between econ and prem econ the whole way. Im 6'4" and the exit rows made it possible for me to sleep SIN-CDG and CDG-SIN.

It's a good experience on Singapore when it works! Pretty hard to beat there Y service when compared to other airlines.
