Status Credits for Instant-Upgrade DL Fares
Hi All,
Apologies if this question has already been covered; couldn't find any information on this topic on FlyerTalk.
Although I've been a Velocity member since 2011, I've only started crediting to VA from this year (My SQ PPS status has expired; I used to credit VA flights to SQ or DL).
I've just made VA Silver and am looking to hit Gold by year-end. I've got a trip to the USA coming up and I've been looking to maximise my status credits by booking some reasonably-priced domestic DL first class fares, instead of using points or flying discount economy on UA/AA.
If you read the detailed fare rules, the fares I'm looking at are actually instant upgrade economy fares; e.g., one of them is a TEVUA0FL fare that books into G class (domestic first).
When crediting to US-based FF programs (I've used DL and UA for over a decade), these fare types credit based on the flown fare, not the actual discount economy class fare basis. I.e., they credit as if I had purchased a true first class fare.
Will I earn SCs based on the actual fare basis (10 SCs for T class, which is Discount Economy), or the flown fare basis (40 SCs for G class)?

If you book in G(or A or P or I) then you earn as for First(or Business - same anyway).
I have had over 50 such flights.
It also is similar for "Comfort Plus" which books into W and hence Premium Economy.
e.g. LAX-SFO in N - 10 SC, Y - 20 SC, W - 30 SC & G - 40SC.

Thanks serfty, at around $5/SC these domestic DL fares are a pretty comfy way to rack up status credits.
Good to know about Comfort Plus, hadn't thought of that.
