VA is stopping service on SYD-AUH on 27 October. I assume that corresponds with the first 777 going in for retrofit. They only have 5, and they need 4 to continue running SYD/BNE-LAX daily.

The SYD-AUH flights are now operating as normal and they aren't stopping service until 2016.

The refit program on the 777's has been delayed due to certification issues...

Well, I'm guessing my LAX-BNE flight at the end of March won't be retrofitted. It isn't that big of a deal to me I guess since I'm traveling with the Mrs and we have 1A/1C, but I was hoping to experience the new config.

We're travelling in mid Jun and early Jul and have been rebooked onto Etihad services. According to VirtuallyThere both flights (EY451 and EY450) are being operated by a 777-300ER.

I check on a daily basis and this afternoon I found our booked seats in Premium Economy have just been updated to reflect the new configuration. We are flying early August and it seems that all bookings around late June onwards will have the new refit. I have noticed that Business has encroached further down the plane than previously thought - not sure where the entry door is located in relation to the new layout but I'm pretty sure it will open halfway into Business Class which now extends through Row 11. Premium Economy now has the predicted 24 seat cabin and only 3 rows.

Thanks for the heads up ... my June flight has changed to the new layout where my strategic 1A has held.

Well done serfty, looks like your seating preference is intact. I would be very interested to hear a detailed report on your experience in 1A - as it has no cubicle in front, therefore your IFE and footrest locations are a mystery. We are thinking of upgrading to Business, but the only reviews on the new Business seat are from an A330 experience. Husband is concerned that the centre suites will have limited access to each other, therefore a less attractive option for couples who like to engage in conversation like us.
My comment regarding the size of Business Class is probably redundant, as I've just realised that these suites interconnect, so 11 rows is probably no larger than the previous 5. And speaking of, I wonder if they will still accommodate the exclusive area formally known as Row 5?
