VS21 LHR - IAD Large Schedule Change

We're flying back from TLV through LHR in VS in a couple of weeks. Our final flight, VS21, has shifted from a 12pm (ish) departure to a 7pm (ish) departure. Any idea why VS has decided to make such a substantial change in this flight? Looking online, it seems that there's a shift to 5pm (ish) in a few days, and then to the 7pm time frame.

Yes I have been stung by this too for a couple of weeks time. Original departure was 1245, retimed to 1905 and arriving at the fairly miserable hour of 2230.

Im on a Premium ticket booked via my corporate TA, LHR-IAD (VS), DCA-LGA (DL), JFK-LHR (VS) with the first sector upgraded to UC myself using points.

I may call up tomorrow and see if I can reroute via JFK, giving me an extra 3 hours in Washington. However considering the complication of the ticket and the desire to keep the upgrade, it may end up being too much hassle!

Bumping this one to see if anyone has had success in getting rerouted. I'm flying LHR-IAD on 6/1 on a premium economy award ticket. I'd like to get rebooked on an earlier flight to DCA via JFK, but was told it wasn't possible because there were no award seats available. Is it because they schedule change notification was done more than 2 weeks out that EU/UK261 doesn't apply and they don't have to offer a rerouting option? I was only offered a full refund. Kinda frustrated with this one. Thanks!

I just accepted the change and am going to try and stay up for the whole flight before crashing at the hotel. Hopefully itll help with jet lag (plus its a Friday so at least I can have a drink or six)

Schedule changes don’t come under UK/EU 261 so there is no automatic right to reroute as there would be if the flight was cancelled.

So you’re under the VS flight change policy and the time frames etc listed in that.

If you want an alternative routing then that’s a voluntary change so reward availability needs to be there.

In the other direction, I'm booked on VS22 with a nasty 23:15 departure. Is the new schedule anticipated to continue through the end of the year? (I'm booked in the fall).

The change is reflecting till June. I am booked for July, would the schedule change for July too? Quite a pain this is with limited flights.
Surprised to not see any twitter posts or any note by VS regarding this major change.

I realise this is veering very much into getting worrying deep into the detail, should probably step away from the internet territory but here goes

Every night since the VS21 started leaving LHR at 1905 its landed at IAD and parked up at this exact remote stand at the south end of the central apron, quite some way away from the main building. Is this a good or bad thing when it comes to a swift arrival and immigration procedure?

Is it possible it want to a gate for unloading and was then moved to a parking spot so as to not block the gate?

No. If you playback VS21 over the last few days it comes off the runway and taxies straight to this same remote stand (a similar route to what is displayed via a white line on the screenshot I posted).

However the aircraft then sits on the ground until the following day and then is indeed towed to a gate ready for the VS22 at 1815.

We got off that flight earlier this week from the remote stand. They drive the "Mobile Lounges" to the plane and load passengers on directly from the aircraft. The Mobile Lounges then drive you to the IAD international arrivals center for passport control and customs.

I'd say it takes a bit longer than arriving at a gate and then getting on the Mobile Lounges to International Arrivals, but not substantially more time.

No, but if you get on first from Upper, you'll be able to sit nearer the driver on one of these!

And now I am affected by this schedule change too. A change like this is happening to me for first time. I am arriving at LHR in 7:20 in morning and this flight is 12 hours later. Can I ask VS to reroute me via JFK? Do VS charge extra if I decide to reroute ?
Full trip is BOM - DEL - LHR - IAD. Appreciate the help.

You would need to check with their policy on significant schedule changes and wether they would allow a free.rerouting or not.

But the schedule change policy would likely only count for the LHR-IAD flight and not the whole trip.

A call to VS asking about options wouldn't hurt.
