Temporary Clubhouse closures - SFO, JNB, IAD and BOS
Several Clubhouses are subject to temporary closure for refurbishment, and presumably realignment with VS' new Sky Team partners.
Details can be found on the individual pages on the VS Website here - https://flywith.virginatlantic.com/g...rt-lounge.html
SFO is already closed. IAD BOS JNB are closed from 28th February 2023.
The website says alternative lounges have been made available for UC passengers and Golds.

Really bad for BOS, the alternatives are either a tiny and terrible AF lounge that's maybe the worst in their network, or a Delta Express SkyClub they built quickly because the AF lounge was so bad

I would expect Virgin to use the new Sky Club in BOS Terminal E when it opens this summer, so the Clubhouse may never reopen. I'd be sad to lose the counter-service food and champagne, but it will probably be a nicer space than the basement the Clubhouse and Sky Club Express are in.
I agree that the timing is suspicious, and might indicate Plaza Premium is having a difficult time operating the clubhouses profitably.

Perhaps unrelated, but Capital One is not partnering with PPG for its new IAD Lounge.

Sounds like this is just a short term closure. I heard that for SFO, the re-opening is in late March, and the interim option is the China Airlines lounge. Don't know any other details.

Just experienced the substitute Delta Sky Club Express.
On balance, its worse than the bad Air France Lounge.
On the positive side, nice little fruit and cheese packages and less crowded than AF Lounge.
Negatives include plastic glasses, no liquor selection, and all the bad stuff of the AF Lounge.
Hopefullt they reopen the clubhouse soon.
