VS A350 Premium JFK-LHR 2020 vs DL 764 (New Layout 2) Premium Select

Flying over to London for a weekend in March. The 2 look very compatible now but is there a clear winner? DL maybe be better option for the night flight as the seat may have a legrest although I'm not sure there is a way to confirm this being 6 months out. VS could have an edge with a the newest equipment. Anyone have any thoughts as to the best choice?

Given that VS have only had the A350 in service for less than a week you might want to await some proper reviews of it.

Given the two airlines codeshare, you could book one for the outbound and the other for the return?

Agree - was thinking DL on the night flight, VS the day.

The DL 764 config is also pretty new, but that said there are some points to consider.
  • The DL cabin is much smaller than the VS cabin, at 20 seats vs 56 for VS. DL follows the VS model of dedicated FAs for the W cabin, so DL service should be faster and more personal (though obviously this could vary by crew). It should also be faster getting off the plane since there are fewer J pax to wait for.
  • The 2-2-2 layout of DL is superior to the 2-4-2 layout of VS. All but 4 of the DL seats have direct or easy aisle access. There are no middle seats. DL seats are nominally 0.5" wider.
  • There are no dedicated lavs for DL. (You appear to have to walk back to Y.)
  • The overhead bins in the center section of the 764 are too small for most bags. (Side bins can take a full size roller bag.)
  • IFE will be pretty similar overall. I find the newer DL interface better than the newer VS interface, but VS tend to have more interesting content.
  • Wifi should be about the same.
TBH, the A350 is my least preferred choice for W going forward, based purely on the 2-4-2 configuration.
