Held flights...now what

Called Flying Club tonight to hold 4 x award seats while I wait on points transferring.

Call was super quick, less than 4 mins. Very efficient indeed. Only thing is that I don't know (having never done this before) what happens next. I hung up too quickly given how surprised I was that they can reserve this so quickly. Got a booking reference, can see on my online account & have been able to reserve seats.

How do I redeem the miles?? Once they are in the account, is this automatic or do I need to call up. Don't have an email about it and nothing on the online booking to indicate it is not confirmed...

New to VS. All I can say is that I'm very impressed with how quickly I was able to call up and do this (vs BA), however, not sure what is next. TIA

Yes, once you have the miles (and within the hold period) just call up, give them the booking reference and ask to complete the booking. I've done this with flights on both VS and ANA (although the hold period was only 24 hours on ANA vs 72 hours on VS.)

Being able to hold reward seats (even on partners) is one of my favourite aspects of VS. BA won't even hold reward seats on their own flights.
