Plusgrade bid upgrades
 
I am used to Plusgrade. With VA can you bid to upgrade from E to UC? Or is it only 1 level above so E to PE. And if you book PE you can bid to UC? Also any restrictions on the E ticket type?

Considering LHR/MIA next year and if I can book E and then bid for UC

It depends what VS offer.

This page says yes you can bid for Economy to Upper

The other restriction (other than VS opening bids) is that you must have booked direct with VS

Ahhh great thanks, definitely seems can bid from economy to upper. Aware of the booking direct requirement.

Is there any big thread here about upgrade bids, BA flyertalk subforum has a huge thread where people post their past bid prices

Bids for upgrades aren't discussed very much here.
There is anecdotal evidence of bargains to be had over the years, but I think they are few and far between.
VS is obviously a much smaller airline than BA, but it would be nice to hear actual experiences of people bagging a bargain this way.

I just got notice of unable to upgrade on LHR-JNB for which I put in a STRONG offer from premium economy. It seems that nobody upgraded as the flight is J1/C1 and was the same yesterday (and right before the upgrade window today). I don't know if VS overbooks J, but C1 to me indicates there is a seat to be had. I actually significantly upped my offer this morning once I saw it was only J1/C1. Oh well...
