Virgin Hawaiian partners - FC miles - check your FF #

Hi all
Just in case this helps future travellers looking to get HA travel credited to VS ... be careful that you reset your FF number before you fly.
The story is this.
  • We booked return flights KOA HNL and when booked expected to be HBO. It took a while but the helpful HA CS staff manually added our VS number to the first booking.
  • We later booked HNL-LIH.
  • However, we ended up checking in a bag each for each flight and to get the cheaper rate for baggage ($10 off), we had to use out HA FF number.
  • We flew (and had a superb time).
  • No VS FC miles appeared.
  • Filed a partner claim.
  • Told only one of the flights was eligible (KOA-HNL) because the other had already been credited to HA

All a long saga for what turned out to be about 150 miles lost. Probably should have realised that given the distances involved.

That was in January and we have just been credited the miles (in April) so, I am thinking that this was quite an unusual case. but the moral of the story is check which FF number is on your ticket, before you fly.

You are lucky.

AA wouldn't have allowed that for example because once you have used your status benefits they won't allow you to credit that flight to another FF programme.

HA boarding passes will never show the VS frequent flyer number.
The field will just be blank on the boarding pass.
It is definitely a good idea to check multiple times.
I had a single eticket LAX-OGG-LAX, LAX-OGG credited to VS, OGG-LAX ended up mysteriously crediting to HA.
took a few weeks of emails to get that sorted.
and discount first fares in "A" now earn 100% into VS - was 150% in 2018.

Crediting to/from HA has always been a challenge IME. Their system frequently rips of other airlines’ frequent flier numbers. They ask aren’t very prompt in “pushing” recently flown segments through to partners, and at least as of one year ago, they still do so manually. In other words, they transmit the information by spreadsheet from person to person. Very complex, I know!
