Heathrow club house ain’t what it used to be

Title says it all really. Here now and can’t help but think what it used to be like. Now it’s just one big restaurant

Well, your title doesn't say it all really. Yes it has changed over the years but what don't you like about it?

I was there a couple of weeks ago and yes there were more formal tables and chair areas than previously but that was only in the area that was called the library and there were still plenty of other places to sit without being sat at a table. So it certainly isn’t ‘one big restaurant’.

VS also replaced the hardly used jaquizzi with an informal seating area as well.

The staff were as excellent as ever I found them previously, there was no problem getting a spa appointment and they even made me a vesper martini (well two!)

Hi agree on the staff being amazing.
Noteable changes for me :
- video games area
- seems less spacious now
- liked the library area
- pay for spa treatments
- deli counter gone
- no separate kids area.
- downgraded spirits selection.

I can see what you mean on some of the points.

For what it's worth, the video/arcade games were perpetually broken whenever I tried to use them.

Not that I am trying to dispute what you are saying, but on a couple of points (I will actually be in the Clubhouse in two days time so I will be able to see for myself) I recall there is a kids playroom area in the far corner opposite the library. Until the old connections centre was demolished it actually offered the best view of the apron!!
The deli counter comment concerns me though, has this been removed in the last couple of months...? It was still there on my last visit in November.

the deli counter was certainly there on the 9th January in the same place it always was!

There are still free treatments in the spa.

Still felt spacious to me.

Deli counter is still there as of yesterday evening ( 30/1/2019 )
Clubhouse staff are friendly and as attentive as always
Only real difference we noticed was extended seating area for dining where pool table used to be which I thought was better as you could dine with a bit more privacy.

I must be getting confussed on the deli counter.
I remember one that had a few staff serving with the smoked Salmon, prawns, cheese etc etc.

On Sunday it seemed to me they’d put a few plates out where the tablets used to be opposite.

Maybe I missed something so apologies if the case.

But it no kids area now as far as I could see

I suppose I could be confused as well, the deli counter (as I call it) does have salmon, prawns, cheese, cured meats, and rolls/bread on top. That's what I've been calling the "deli" on the same wall as the spa (opposite the bar)

Ok. May be it was closed the night I flew. All they had we the sandwich shop style help your self food displays. And they were on the table running diagonally opposite where I thought the deli was (and catlike says is)

Hmmm, quite possibly - could have just been a weird one off, maybe a catering problem of some kind?
