LHR SFO Feb 2019 Plane Switch

This week Virgin switched our place from a 787 to the A340-600 which is obviously an older and inferior plane. I am in Economy Delight and I assume I have to just suck it up. Any advice?

While the A346s are older I disagree that they are inferior. The IFE screens will be older and are not touch screen, but that's the extent of it. All the A346s were refreshed in economy in the last few years.
If I'm honest, if I was in your shoes I would be happier at a 2-4-2 layout over the 3-3-3 on the dreamliner.

Ok, thanks. I have selected the two seats which I do appreciate will be a bonus.

No worries, it'll be fine.

My LHR-BOS, in November has switched from an A340 to a B787. Perhaps we have swapped!!

I think the swap probably has to do with the limited number of 787s that are unaffected (or already fixed) with regards to the engine issues.

Almost certainly - there is a whole page dedicated to the A330-200 on the Virgin website that explains it.
