BLR > DEL > LHR .... bad connection choice ?
 

Hi

So I have a work trip to BLR and was considering flying Virgin due to the flight times and the ability to use some of my points to upgrade part of the journey.

I noticed the ontime performance reliability of Jetways (Virgin's partner) 9W 973 to be very poor and the layover is 2 hours. As Virgin only fly once per day out of Delhi what would happen in the following situation

I miss my connection, would they rebook me on the next Virgin flight (which looks like it's the next day) and they provide accomodation or would they rebook me with one of their partners the same day to get me back to LHR.
I had upgraded my DEL > LHR flight using points. Would they honour that I was Upper Class and try and book me a business seat if space was available or would they put me back in Economy and I have to claim the miles back.

There is a direct flight with BA but the flight times are not suitable. I am tempted to go with Emirates as I am an A380 fan even if it means being in Economy .....

Are the 9W flights on a separate booking?

You cay 'connection' so let's assume they are on the same booking.

In which case it is 9W who is responsible for rebooking you should you miss the VS flight. They will rebook according to their policies. A hotel would also depend on their policies so you may have to pay for that and possibly reclaim from your insurance. Being on an award shouldn't make any difference to the rebooking.

As this is more of a 9W rather than a VS issue I've alerted a mod to consider moving your post to the 'India Based airlines' board.

Even if you are delayed so significantly that you miss the VS flight, 9W have multiple options out of India to get you home. From BLR, you could go via DEL or BOM, or international transit hubs. From DEL, you could go via BOM, AUH (Etihad), and a bunch of others. I wouldn't worry. Chances are you'll make the VS flight anyway.
