How do I get VS to price this partner award on ANA correctly?

I called to price out SFO-NRT-PVG round trip, with SFO-NRT in F, NRT-PVG in Business (no F on NRT-PVG).
My understanding is that the total trip should be 120K miles, as the total journey is between 11,001 - 14,000 miles.
But agent quoted a price of 155K miles, breaking this into two awards, one F award for SFO-NRT 110K, and one C award NRT-PVG 45K.

I tried to point out that Virgin website used to have this example:
which indicates that total distance of return journey adds all segments together, but agent just repeated this was the price.

Any suggestion on how to get VS to price this correctly?

Not sure you can mix classes with through priced journey. Try asking for through ticket and business and it should price as one award.

You managed to get an agent who get F space? That's news

110K miles for JFK - HND , NRT - JFK with ANA in F.

Booked on Sep 27 for travel in early Dec, returning on Dec 18th.

I checked inventory on united before calling. Taxes were $87.56.

Hi there. I believe the amount was calculated using the old distance based chart which was previously only on the UK version of the VS site. I can't find it anymore on the new site. This blog post has the chart. http://viewfromthewing.boardingarea....-ways-can-use/

I have redeemed in the past for JFK-NRT in F for 120K and posted in this thread. I guess going to HND broke the formula or put me right under a price band. I have not checked the great circle mapper.

VS was easier to deal with this time. I have had success calling them after 5PM EST. I called the US flying club number and was routed to the UK team. After the seats were reserved, it took around 4 hours to ticket.

Keep trying! Don't give up! I have had success with redeeming on VS, VX, NH and even once...DL!

Advice needed: hoping to transfer UR points to Virgin for ANA business class booking, SEA-NRT or HND... is this a good use of UR points? Feels like some juggling to do as I have MR points (can deposit to ANA directly) and lots more UR points,

Not a good use. ANA award chart is a lot better for Business class.

UR points are not transferable to ANA, unlike MR! And I need to top off my ANA miles with *Wood to hit 90K.

Let me expand on my answer a bit more.

Booking ANA award seats using ANA miles has a few more benefits:
1) ANA offers substantially more award seats to its own members;
2) You can waitlist for ANA own flights;
3) NorthAmerica-TYO award price for J is 75K low season, 85K regular season, 90K high season. High season is very short. Most likely you will be at regular season;
4) You can waitlist for ANA own flights. I say this again to contrast to booking using VS miles. When using VS, you are uisng partner award availability and you cannot waitlist at all. Furthermore, you are also at the mercy of getting a competent VS agent who *can* find ANA space.
5) ANA award booking has free date-changes.

Can VS book one-way? That's a major downside of ANA direct booking.

Looking to book SFO to NRT next December for my husband and myself. Called VS Flying Club to confirm booking is 110k pp. If we each book our own ANA F ticket through VS are we able to select seats so we can sit together/nearby?

I had a reward flight to NRT a couple of years ago on ANA using VS miles. Once I got the conformation, I was able to register on the ANA site, and choose seats as if it was an ANA booking.
