MOBO Awards

Is anyone else going to the MOBOs this Thursday as a guest of Virgin? I'm sure they must have invited a few other gold card holders apart from me (or have they got wind of virginflyer.com, and this is a PR thing) :-)

Watch out - they will probably give you some free drinks and talk you into being the webmaster for the official site http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I haven't had an invite yet - maybe I don't fly enough or help Virgin enough to justify it..... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

AmEx on the otherhand were gracious enough to invite me to the MTV Music Awards in Edinburgh - maybe they do see me as a valued customer!

Anyway - I'm flyign to LAX on Saturday - anyone going to be in the Clubhouse - any lowly silvers that would like to experience the Clubhouse http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Thanks,
Richard

Oh Mr Mannion have you obviously must think you carry more clout with VS than you actually do. I guess they wanted to invite VERY regular customers who spend considerable sums of money in premium cabin travel on a regular basis only. I guess flying your office chums out to Orlando for birthday just doesn’t cut it. I presume VS look at the points of pax to determine those the get passed the Gold threshold by a hair and those that double or even treble the requirements.

I hope any low silver member would be grateful enough to scrub up and look presentable if he or she were to be invited into the clubhouse with such and respected Gold card holder. God forbid they decide to buy anything in your presence with any card that wasn’t a black one…..

Toodle pips…..

They're probably all too busy in the BA F lounge http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Well thanks to 2 of the 'regular' contributors for their observations, certainly put me in my place! I didn't realise how little I knew about VS - must have all been a dream.

Where's my red card gone..... Maybe next year I can see if I can dwarf the more than double the required tier points with all my Y and W travel that I did this membership year. Thats right Gold with no tier-earning J travel - how lowly of me doing double-digit number of flights per year.

BTW - did anyone else get the communication of the new direct number to the Premier Team at Virgin?

Thanks,
Richard

Chin up Richard, no-ones questioning your formidable knowledge of VS (or AMEX for that matter).

Just try to be a bit less of a Hyacinth Bucket (or is that Bouquet) and you wont iritate people so much http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Then there are those people who travel to JFK every week and don't care how elite they get - it is Upper Class every time so what more can you ask for - Richard comes and picks you up in the Limo personally ?

I know one director at work who doesnt have enough time to redeem the miles he has accrued and will probably not make it into a long retirement anyway..

There's a very strange irony in the whole thing - if you need a bit of plastic to prove how important you are, you're probably not that important... ;-)

You can't get out of the clubhouse that easily Richard, you know that even with Red and a lowly coach ticket your Amex Centurion will still get you in!
