LAX-SFO-MCO - redeye arrives SFO at 1 AM - connect 8AM
Connect time is 7 hours
What options, if any, are there for sleeping at SFO - I will be traveling in F on VX.
I also have AmeX Platinum
I am assuming all clubs (Amex Centurion, Virigin) are closed at night

There are "nap rooms" in FreshenUp in the Intl Terminal, but it's expensive, $120 for 8 hours btw 10p-6a. Alternately, there's nicely padded benches in baggage claim of T2 @ SFO (VX/AA terminal), so theoretically you could nap there until 5a when the Centurion opens.
I'd consider an airport hotel (offsite only, there's currently nothing onsite), but at best you'll only have around 5 hours or so to sleep...

Prices vary widely depending on what's going on -- I was looking at a late arrival into SFO on January 10th, and the Hyatt was $600++ -- but even at its lowest, it's hard to find something near SFO under $100 after taxes. Given the relatively short connect time, even that might be too much to pay for (at most) 4 hours of sleep.

There's a wide gulf between Sleeping in Airports and Sleeping at the Hyatt.

I have the same upcoming problem. Arriving at 11:00pm from FLL, departing at 5:00am. All the big chain hotels are going for $200 and up.
Makes zero sense for me to get a hotel. I'll just occupy my time with a book and social media, then head to FreshenUp for a shower around 3 am.

I've done the "Millwood Inn And Suites, Millbrae" on Hotels.com when all I wanted to do was sleep for a few hours. Clean, not fancy and runs ~$120.00
For me I prefer 4 hours of sleep vs no sleep in the airport.

For me, 4 hours is moving into a "danger zone" where no sleep actually trumps sleep due to the risk of oversleeping: It's enough time to get some zzzzs...and often just enough that either I can't get proper rest or I fall too far asleep and I'm hell to wake up.
