$60k gets you a full flight and your name on the Plane

Got this in an email from Gilt Group this morning. For $60,000.00 you get to name your own A320 and fill it with up to 145 of your friends for a flight to this destinaions and return.

I do not even have that many FB friends (probably because I am very picky as to who I choose to be my friends).

I have a lot of acquaintences but not close of enough to pay for their tickets.

VX A320s have 25 full rows if you have 50 good friends each can have a row I'll gladly take the half row (26) that has limited recline.

Rent an Airbus from Virgin America for $60,000

I'm curious if we could pool enough people together to make this happen? We'd pick the origin and destination. Details are here:

• Round-trip flight for you and up to 145 of your friends on any domestic, nonstop route in Virgin America’s network, excluding Mexico

If this price includes fuel, crew, and taxes and is exempt from TSA bullcrap then it's not a bad deal at all.

The package also includes being able to name the plane. So the Flyertalk A320 would be a kicker to the deal.

Why don't we fly it to Phoenix and rent out the pool at Chase Field? That will only run us an extra $5K or so!

If the schedule works, I'd do it. F seats could be raffled off with the proceeds going to a charitable organization. I wonder if we can have VX just fly us around CA doing touch and go or taxi back and takeoff landings all day.

Oakland Tower: Redwood 9220 runway 29 clear for the option.

Actually, you don't HAVE to fill it up with 148 passengers. You could always leave the middle seats empty, and have a "premium economy" product for a nice trans-continental flight. Throw in the plane naming rights, and this is a good marking tool - either as a fund raiser or as a promo.
