How Many Elevate Points per Flight?
Hi. I am trying to figure out how many Elevate points I'll receive for a particular flight I'm thinking of purchasing. T
The web site offers the following guidance to people with this question (in the member guide): "The specific number of points that will be awarded for eligible flights, purchases and activities will be available on the Virgin America website". Okay, I believe 'em. BUT WHERE? I couldn't find it when trying to price my flight. Is it available BEFORE you actually purchase your ticket? Thanks to anyone with this info. Cheers! |
Multiply the cost of the ticket by 5 and that is how many points you will earn. See:

Thanks!
That's it. I appreciate the pointer.

Plus with my new VX Visa, my monthly spend is pretty much ensuring me enough elevate points for another one-way ticket. If you fly VX for longer trips, this probably doesn't apply, but so far, I'm really happy with elevate. |

For me, and this is my own opinion, I found elevate to be pretty beneficial. I've only flown VX on the LAX-SFO/SFO-LAX trip, which I'm usually able to snag for around $120ish roundtrip. If I pick a good date, I can usually use 2,500 elevate points each way, which means after only 4 trips, I already have one-way taken care of for my next. I find this to be a pretty comparable deal to say WN, which requires me to fly 8 roundtrips to qualify for a free roundtrip ticket.

Elevate actually doesn't seem that bad for economy tickets. However, if you want to fly in First, it's a RIDICULOUSLY bad redemption. Like, SO BAD that you would be crazy to waste your points on it.

Does anyone know/have experience in redeeming elevate points for a free ticket (coach), and then paying $50 to upgrade based on availability 24 hours before departure? Are you allowed to do this, or is the $50 upgrade only available if you paid for the coach ticket?

I don't think anyone here has tried it yet, but it is documented to work.
