Carry on size

Can anyone give me an example of the size of carry-on's VA allows? I will be flying for the first time in March and didn't pre-purchase my checked baggage though now I'm thinking I may have to call and pre-purchase it. Thanks!

Official carry-on guideline is:

Carry-on baggage is subject to a maximum outside linear dimension of 50", for example 10 inches in height x 16 inches in width x 24 inches in length, cannot weigh more than 16 pounds (each piece), and must fit in the overhead bin or under the guest seat.

There's more info in the Baggage FAQ at Virgin America's site: :)

How strict are they about 16lbs being the max weight allowed? Do they weight cabin luggage?
Thanks, Tattikat2^

Does anyone know the answer to this question? I would like to do carry-on but my bag will weigh more than 16 lbs. Is there any leeway for carry on weight in first class versus other classes?

I've never had my carry-on weighed by VX (YMMV).

Well to answer my own question, no one took the slightest interest in my roll on board luggage. Could have been solid concrete inside...^
