VX is superb.

Just wanted to say that i tried out VX and it was absolutely superb. Massive seats in F, so much leg room, fantastic entertainment system with interactive maps, loads of movies, games, tv channels!! Also the crew are friendly, attentive, drinks full of ice in nice big glasses, fresh looking aircraft. And all for a 1 hour flight. What a domestic airline ^^^. if you haven't already then deffo give it a go.....all for a very reasonable price indeed.

Completely agree. The service in F from JFK to SFO was perfect, much better than what I've seen onboard some flights in CW. Food was great, booze flowed was really worth it.

Took few minutes of googling to find that VX = Virgin America

cabinfever Aug 27, 2008 5:26 am

I agree. I did SFO to JFK earlier in the year and the food was fantastic. I liked the way it was served as small samples for the deserts too.

I was hesitant about choosing VX due to lack of frequent flier scheme. Silly in hindsight as it's the product that matters, isn't it?

There were some problems with the IFE on my flight, but fortunately I wasn't too bothered as I needed to sleep after dinner.

There's definitely something to be learned from them - if only CE was that good. Obviously BA's fleet are a lot older.

And the best thing was I only paid about $350 for the ticket! (I think I got a cheap upgrade to F....)

Presumably this was the one downside ;) Most of us on this side of the pond prefer drinks full of drink, hold the frozen diluent!!

Am flying VX in October but only SFO-LAS so didn't bother with 1st, might see if any 1st seats free at check-in and upgrade for $50 each. Their service looks good and all the trip reports I've read about them are positive.

Very unlikely to be honest as there are only 8 F seats. try and get in while you can...definately worth it in my opinion.

I was contacted the day before the flight by text message or email. They offered me an upgrade to First for $150. Bargain, I thought!

Moving this over to the Virgin America forum, where I trust the positive feedback will be very well received.

If you decide to roll the dice, make sure you are the first to check in, 24 hours in advance.

Agreed. I actually logged in exactly 24 hours in advance (and was first to check in, with SEQ001 on my BP) and was able to score both legs of my trip to LAS (SEA-SFO / SFO-LAS) for $50 each. In hindsight, the $50 upgrade SFO-LAS probably wasn't worth it to me, but SEA-SFO anytime. Admittedly, I did have the advantage of being able to check in the SFO-LAS leg >24 hours since I was connecting through, but I'll use the advantage. :)

You might want to read the thread on the VX "dark plane" before you decide to upgrade that route.

Edit: Retraction. The latest post in the VX dark plane thread indicates that that particular plane is no longer on the SFO-LAS route.

A coworker flew SFO-JFK on VX and was not impressed. Flight attendents did not come thru to pick up trash until the last 45 minutes, and she felt cramped.

IFE however was given a rave review.

I have yet to try VX, if I have some shorthauls in the west I might. It has been so well received, but I guess nothing is perfect.

More than that, there is no more "dark plane".

I agree wholeheartedly. I fly almost exclusively VX for LAX-SFO and LAX-SEA now. ^
