Virgin first class inventory

Alaska has gone insane in managing Virgin's first class booking code inventory. Alaska seems perfectly fine in not getting any advance purchase first class ticket sales.

From Nov 16 to Nov 28, every Virgin America flight systemwide is J7 C0 D0.

From Dec 16 to Jan 15, every Virgin America flight systemwide is J7 C0 D0.

From Aug 3 to end of schedule, every LAX-OGG flight is J7 C1 D0.

The plan is to give them away as free upgrades. :D

Lots of saver award availability. It's bizarre. Everywhere I look Alaska flights are 60k, VX 25k, despite there being 4-8 more seats on AS planes.

It's actually a hell of a deal right now and I can't imagine it will last forever. Take advantage while we can.

I'd settle for just being able to buy a D fare

Flying NYC-PDX Sunday August 13, the nonstop EWR-PDX is 30k economy/60k F. Or 25k for VX F JFK-SFO-PDX. Not a difficult decision. I just hope they start allowing stopovers on VX awards so I can add another leg later. If not, still a good deal.

I am currently holding an award ticket that I'd change to $ if the fare wasn't so ree-dik-you-less. On the other hand, VX often did the same or similar.

They will also be adding a third row in F to VX planes. Say goodbye to all that legroom. Another observation. Fares are always high in Nov/Dec, with the Thanksgiving and Christmas travel surge. They have no incentive to lower them this far out.

I wanted to add VX is maintaining its own inventory separate from AS. They are not that far through the merger.
