Tried to use the website tonight and it's acting very funny - including a link to Alaska as a partner. It looks as if the powers that be are preparing for an announcement... ?

I've heard through the grapevine that Alaska may buy Virgin.

Where do you see this? I can't even log into my account right now, but that may be normal, middle of the night maintenance.

System seems to be acting normal again, but this is a Virgin America link I was refereeing to:

https://www.virginamerica.com/cms/fl...-partners.html

Those are likely interline partners.

Thanks, I really didn't know what too make of that list. Frindle is probably correct in just late night maintenance stuff - I was also a little tired myself

I believe you are correct. The list is not an accurate list of AS partners.

That page/list is nothing new - it's VX's list of interline (and a few codeshare) partners

I know this is a cross-post, but please accept my apologies, as this seems to be a matter of major interest and importance to this forum: It looks like the Justice Department will approve the merger, but will have to give up some gates at SFO and LAX, according to TheStreet.com: Virgin America Shares Fly on Talk DOJ Will Approve Alaska Air Merger

Currently, Alaska Air flies to only one of the top 10 airports out of San Francisco, to New York's JFK

Hint to stupid journalist: SEA is about 2400 miles away from JFK. It's also "Alaska Airlines".

Not looking forward to this either. Ready to cancel my Virgin Visa next month when the renewal fee is due. Will still be gold based on segments and have a lot of points to use up but will be mostly just using up the points.

I actually signed up for the Visa based on the merger. My big problem with VX was the small network; now VX+AS will offer a much more compelling value prop for us SFOers.

What alternative do you have for VX? In the Bay Area it is either UA, DL or WN. UA has the most nonstops, and worst service.
DL has the fewest nonstops and good service.
WN is afraid of water.

Like I said, VX is dead to me. jetBlue gets 100% of my travel to the west coast now. Deleted the VX app from my devices, and don't care that what points I have left expire. I really hope this merger by a completely undeserving, disingenuous Craplaska comes back to bite them in the .... HARD. And it might...

I can get everywhere I need to go domestically with JetBlue. I can book in advance and get Mint for transcons. I get free changes and cancellations as a Mosaic. I have successfully avoided the big three for domestic flights for many years now. Not saying that I will never take AS/VX but I am not going out of my way to fly with them.
