Elevate Gold "Opt in"

Hi,
Just gotten Elevate Gold Status but how do I "opt in" for free upgrade to main cabin select at t-24?
I do not see a "Opt in" button under my reservation to click so is it automatic or am I missing something?

Thanks.

It's not automatic. There is in fact a box you have to check. It comes up either at the pay screen or with the confirmation screen that comes next. Bottom right corner somewhere.

on the last page of the booking process. For existing bookings or those not made on vx.com you have to call the gold line to add it.

I find the most effective method is to this over the phone at T-24. The agents can confirm the right kind of seat you want immediately and it avoids the automatic upgrade into a middle seat, which I detest.

I've never seen it myself. I dont know that it is comes up for everyone.

I am not doubting what other, more experienced VX flyers are indicating.

I just havent ever seen it. If its present on the booking or confirmation screens, its a well hidden little bugger.

Calls to VX to assist me seem to go to deaf ears. Sometimes the agents have no idea what I am talking about.

Odd as I am a VX Elevate Gold, you would think more experienced CS agents would be handling my calls.

i think as the idea of being owned by Alaska trickles down among the rank and file, I get the sad feeling these folks dont really care perhaps as much as they did a year ago.

just my 2 cents

Customer service has most definitely dropped several tiers since the buyout was announced.

It's a tiny box that you see at the very last page of the booking process. Right after you choose the credit card that you want to use for payment in that last page, information will come up on the right showing the fare and a box underneath offering the option to get travel insurance. Right underneath that box, you will see the message to opt in with a tiny box that you check.

Underneath all that you'll see a bigger box to enter the CVV of your card (once you enter that the "Pay Now" button comes up). As someone else stated, choosing this box could land you in a middle seat as the consider those in row 3 and 10 to be "upgrades." You are better off calling in at T-24 (Gold line) and ask if there's a seat other than a middle seat for an upgrade. Since I'm always on short flights and I don't drink I'm normally OK with row 9 so I don't even bother (I don't recline my seat even if I could on short flights).

Same here...never opted in and would call as I would rather have regular cabin aisle or window than get "upgraded" automatically to a MCS middle seat.

If you do a booking outside the VX site, you need to call in to opt in. No other way. I need to do this with my corporate travel bookings.
