VX gate 25 at SAN?

VX gate 25 at SAN?
Virgin America has been using Gate 25 at SAN since they started their ops to SFO.
I know they only operate a few daily flights but the gate area is a joke IMO
. A few
months ago the waiting area was knocked out and replaced by a restaurant/bar. Only
a few seats remain near the podium otherwise one must sit in the nearby gates used
by Spirit. Is this a sign of things to come or just temporary? A bit puzzled since I hoped
VX would add more flights out of SAN
.
