Need help deciding between 2 flight options Den-DFW
Hello Everyone,
I'm based in Denver and going to Madrid next year for a wedding. Found a great deal on Iberia leaving from Dallas-Madrid at 10PM (21,250 Avios+ $98.60).
I have 2 nonstop options from Denver-Dallas and curious to hear which one everyone recommends. Both flights are similar in price and I will have checked baggage with me.
1st option is with United 3:50-6:56. This give me 3 hours, but believe I need to re-check baggage and go through security.
2nd option is with AA 4:53-7:55. Will only give me 2 hours, but is also part of OneWorld. Should hopefully be able to avoid security and go straight to Iberia gate.
Thanks!

Welcome to FlyerTalk!
If your DEN-DFW flight will be on a different PNR, then you will have to claim and re-check your baggage at DFW, even if you fly on AA. AA no longer through-checks bags across separate PNRs, not even for AA to AA.
What would be the consequences of your misconnecting in DFW? Unless you can live with those consequences, I would recommend taking a much earlier DEN-DFW flight to reduce the risk of mis-connection due to IROPS.

If arriving on UA, you'll arrive at Term E, collect bags, then take the landside shuttle to Term D to check in with Iberia, then reclear security in D. If arriving on AA, you most likely will arrive at A, C, or if you are lucky D (AA also uses B and E but that's only for regional jets). If you arrive at A or C, just like with United, you'll have to take the landside shuttle to D to check in with Iberia.
On separate tickets, connecting to an international flight, IMO even 3 hours would be cutting it tight.

FWIW, if you have -- or can get -- some AA miles, it looks like you can get a two-stop connection from DEN to MAD for 30K AA miles + $29 in Economy on many days. It would make for a longer trip, of course, but your baggage would be through-checked to MAD (one free checked bag included), and you would be protected in the event of IROPS. And since all AAdvantage flight awards are fully refundable up to scheduled departure time, if a better, one-stop connection were to become available, you could always cancel and rebook.
Edited to add: Depending on when one is traveling, the AA redemption option can be as cheap as 22.5K miles + $29 (off-peak redemption).

Unfortunately I don't have enough AA miles for that option. Think I'm going to just request half day from work and get to DFW with at least 4 hours to not feel rushed.
Thanks for everyone's help and happy travels!

That can easily be remedied -- if you are credit worthy:
