In person passport renewal ?s

My passport expires in March 2024, since every place that I go, requires six months worth of validity, the passport technically expires in September of this year. My travel schedule for work is very heavy for the remainder of this year, and I will have to use my passport every 2 to 3 weeks. Meaning, I cannot do a regular by mail renewal. I also do not live near a passport processing agency office. Here are my questions.

can I do an in person renewal before the passport is actually expired? I am also trying to figure out the timing for everything, can I get the actual passport in my hand, the same day that I have the in person appointment? I have a trip in September where the passport will be valid the day that I leave, but will have less than six months of validity left during the trip. I would like to not wait until right before that trip to renew. I don't mind making an extra day trip to fly to the passport processing agency office to get it done if I can get it all done in the same day.

Thanks for the help!

If managing to get an in-person appointment, inform the handling agent in the office that you would like a same-day pick-up due to not being local.

Renewals submitted in-person at US Passport Agency offices in the earlier morning open hours are often available for pick-up in the afternoon the same day. Pick-up can also end up not being available until the next business day, regardless of what an applicant is told when putting in the application in-person at such offices.

Renewals can be done in-person even for passports with 9 years of validity remaining on them, if able to get an appointment that works — but that “if” is quite the “if” domestically nowadays.

Thank you so much! So, "if" I get an in person appointment in a few weeks, do I just need to show upcoming travel and the fact that the passport expires in March doesn't matter?

I appreciate you taking the time to help me out!

You will likely be denied. Not 100%, but 95% certain.
In-person appointments are for travel within 14 days, in which expiration is <6 months (or unlikely, has already expired).
