ESTA and a certain question

Hi, I’m new and hope I have put this question in the correct place.
I have read some of the older posts on this Esta question, but mine is a little different.
it is the Employment question,I am a Carer or Caregiver to my husband, it’s very demanding but not a paid job.
my last paid job was years ago, the place I worked at has ceased trading a long time ago now.

When you are clicking on the Employment tab, does it let you add details, that you are a Carer?
My friend said if you tick the “no” box it might get declined, the thought being no job how do you pay for a holiday to the States. It’s just worried me as this question wasn’t there few years ago, nor asking for your parents names. Thanks everyone

Last time I checked the question was 'Do you have a current or previous employer?' My reading of that is you can give your last salaried position if you want.

However, 'household duties' is often on lists like that and would reasonably cover what you do.

Being employed is not a requirement of the VWP. It might mean they ask you questions regarding funds, and it could be a factor in a denial of entry, but plenty of unemployed people enter the US just fine. I've had friends who have been backpacking for 8 months enter the US with no issues as part of their travels.

Sorry late replying, I think what is troubling me my last employer was years ago, the business no longer exists.
I am a full time Carer to my husband, unless I could enter Carer and my own address? This is for the Esta.

The last Esta I did back in about 2010, it didn’t ask this question. Think they call it an enhanced Esta,
If you’re a housewife/Homemaker you have an income, but technically not employed.

Stay-at-home spouse works, and there is no need for such a person with such role to be financially remunerated for the role in order to be approved for an ESTA. I've seen that and "domestic engineer" used and work just fine. There are people who aren't employed in any legal sense but are still eligible to visit the US as tourists using the US VWP/ESTA. As long as you have the financial means available for your stay and are seen as unlikely to overstay in the US, there is generally no problem with unemployed and differently-occupied people to visit the US when using the US VWP.
