Traveling in the U.S. with a foreign passport - any recent experiences?

Hi, a friend is wanting to travel by plane to MO from NY/NJ, and back, however want to know if there are any experiences after the new administration for traveling domestic (within US) with a foreign passport?
any 2017 experiences with traveling to Missouri, no legal status?

If I understand the question, your friend is undocumented and only possesses a foreign passport, but no U.S. state driver's license or state ID card?

If that's the question: Assuming your friend's passport is still valid and unexpired, it's highly unlikely your friend would face problems. The TSA document checkers at major airports see many, many foreign passports each day. They don't care that your friend is residing in the United States. As long as the foreign passport is valid and the photo matches -- and assuming that your friend is not stopped for illegal items in his baggage, which might lead to the passport visa/entrance stamps being examined -- your friend should be okay.

(If the passport is expired, or the photo is out-of-date, obviously your friend should renew it at a local consulate of the country of citizenship months before traveling.)

Is your friend planning driving a rental car in Missouri? Obviously, a lack of a U.S. state driver's license would be a problem, and any foreign driver's license might be expired.

Is your friend concerned about interaction with local law enforcement in Missouri, and being asked about immigration status?

Not so much about interaction within the state. The person has no criminal record and should have no reason to be stoped. Wont be driving, they have friends picking them up. Mainly concerned about the traveling through airplane.

Thanks again!

Valid foreign documents like a passport are always fine for domestic USA travel.
