Maximum US Passport Processing Times?
Just curious what is the maximum time it could take to get a US Passport? I have been waiting now coming up on a year next month. Kind of frustrating. Thanks.

I have never heard of anyone who has waited anywhere close to that long and still received one.
Have you followed up at all, checked the website, have you had any followup questions? |
I haven't heard of wait times that long either. I echo the suggestion of calling/emailing to follow up.

It got lost in the system. Past time to inquire about it.
Here's the link to the status page: https://passportstatus.state.gov/ops..._Status_ip.asp I'm guessing you aren't even in the system. Let us know! |
I would inquire ASAP.
My experiences from the past 6 months. 1) Sent mine for regular renewal (estimated 4-6 week) around July 15th and it was sent back on August 2nd (received August 4th) 2) Girlfriend sent her passport right before Thanksgiving and had it back before New Year's Eve Both were sent in as a regular service, not expedited service, and both were processed and returned within 2-3 weeks so it's not a processing time issue which leads me to believe it got lost in the system or if you never got an email with a processing number it might not have ever made it there. |
Did you get a letter asking for more documentation?
If not, there is no way it can take that long. It should be 3 to 8 weeks max. |

Moving this to the USA forum, where this topic is discussed regularly. Thanks. :) /JY1024, TravelBuzz co-moderator

No, I call once a month to check the status. I can't do it online anymore. Which is strange, as I can still check the status of passports I got for the kids 5 years ago. It says finished and mailed, etc. But mine now says not found. They say everything is fine and to just be patient. But I mean, this is a long time to wait. We cancelled our trip a LONG time ago and lost all that money. Would like to schedule something again before dad dies. He's in the Philippines

Is there something unique with the documentation you submitted? Is this a first time application or renewal?
