Bourbon St. - is there anywhere else like it in the US?
I just returned from NOLA. I travel a lot but this was my first time in NOLA. Bourbon St. seemed like a one of a kind place with their liberal alcohol policy plus the bars not caring if you brought a drink into their place. Every business knew they would get their fair share of the tourist dollar.
It got me thinking. Is there any place that is close to this in the US in terms of tolerance and businesses working together? Vegas is liberal but it is not even close to Bourbon St. |

I was there too. preferred the areas around Bourbon St, such as Frenchmans. I lucked in to being in Key West during Fantasy fest. That was like a more upmarket (fewer trashed kids), great costumes and good atmosphere event. Warmer weather too. Wandering around with alcohol was very acceptable. I recommend both events.

If you look up "open container" on wikipedia, you will get a list of cities where having an open alcohol container is legal.
It's basically NOLA, Vegas, and a few random small cities. |
