Missing a Flight Leg (intentionally) - Holiday Season Travel

USair experts,

Please advise me on this situation - I need to get back to PHL for the holidays and it seems it is becoming increasingly difficult.

Anyway - I found a flight routing PIT/PHL/SAN - I want PHL/SAN however that flight costs hundreds more

I plan on checking in 24 hours in advance, then, of course, not boarding in PIT
and boarding in PHL

Anyone have any experience with this?
I feel like the only hang up could be some sort of system that boots me of the second flight if I miss the first flight?
Or Getting through TSA with a connection boarding pass (if that is possible)
Does USair 2nd boarding pass specify "connecting"?

Thanks!

Won't work - sorry...

Missing the first flight segment automatically cancels follow-on segments.

it might be worth looking to see if there are any cheap PHL-PIT fares left, or driving...not sure if there's a train?

Sean is right - as soon as you miss the PIT-PHL leg the entire remainder of the reservation is canceled.

If you have to get from SAN to PHL and back, try checking out the LA area airports like Burbank - you might find a good deal from BUR-PHL or ONT-PHL or LGB-PHL.

You can also probably do a multi leg flight on WN - you'll probably go SAN-LAS-DAL-MDW-BWI-MCO-MCI-PHX-PIT-PHL, but that's ok if all you want is a cheap fare

Yes, but you would have had a nice drive from PHL to SAN!
