Once upon a time I was a CP but...

Although I have great respect for anyone who flies US enough to qualify at any level... I would like responses to this post to come from CPs who earned it the hard way... Not FTD CPs...

Who is not going to re-qualify as a FLYING/PAYING CP?
How many years have you been a CP(or similar) ?
What were your average miles flown annually?
How much $$$ did you spend on average annually?
How many miles will you end this year with?
Who will you fly next year?

I will post my answers in a reply...

How many years have you been a CP(or similar) ? I was CP for 9 years from '97-'06, earned for 8 of them, carry-over put me over the top one year

What were your average miles flown annually? I had a few 225K years, so probably 130K/year average

How much $$$ did you spend on average annually? $20,000-ish

How many miles will you end this year with? 28,000

Who will you fly next year? Whoever flies where I'm going at the right time, for the lowest price. It seems to be pot luck at PIT nowadays.

WILL NOT MAKE IT! I have 28 segments, and all have been a hassle. I have PURPOSELY NOT credited 2 segments, so I am NOT silver, so I am NOT tempted to fly this horrible airline!
3 Years CP, silver/gold previously
about 180K/250 segments annually
'05/'06 I spent average of $48K/year with US alone, 2007 I spent under $5K with US, and $59.5K+ with OTHER carriers!
I will end this year with about 235 segments, 200K miles
CO 60-75%, UA about 20-25% and AMTRAK (YES.....AMTRAK!) about 5-10%

So long US!

2004-6: CP
2007: GP
2007-8: PM (on DL) US nothing.

Much as I enjoyed my time w/US, it's pretty obvious that this airline is not serious about providing good service at a reasonable price. Taking out F seats, whoring out row 1 in Envoy at $300 a pop when I was never able to get into it anyway, and a website that often prevents a sale from occuring has sent me back to DL.

1999 Preferred Plus
2000 through 2007 Chairmans' Preferred
2007 Silver (all earned before April), if that.
2008 Probably nothing, but PL on CO and AA.

I was theirs to lose.....and they did.

Let's see.. was CP on US 98-99 then went to UA to be a 1K from 01-04
Then flew HP and was a PP for years (04/05)
Then CP 2 years *06/07

Now, going to be GOLD on US.. and not sure if I still will want to fly. I was so annoyed by US, I have mostly stayed local...

Just happy to be off the combined/worse off airline (taking US and HP to lower levels)...

Hmm. I think I am remembering this correctly.

1996 Gold (or whatever they called it) - segments
1997 CP - Segments
1998 CP - Segments
1999 CP - Segments
2000 CP - Segments
2001 CP - Miles
2002 CP - Miles
2003 CP - Miles
2004 CP - Miles (lots of double EQM miles)
2005 CP - Miles (lots of double EQM miles)
2006 Silver - 2 segments flown
2007 1 shuttle segment credited to UA

Had lots of separation anxiety initially. Now I cant believe how long I stuck with them.

I have always qualified on segments. I started as Preferred Plus in 1998 and 1999, was Gold 2000-2003, CP 2004-2007, and in 2008 I will be Platinum.

I currently have five SkyTeam trips booked, four on DL and one on NW.

I understand that FT is not a scientific sampling of the flying community, BUT...how does Dougie continue to claim victory in every which way? How does he continue to boast elite increases? When will US finally fall apart???

Who is not going to re-qualify as a FLYING/PAYING CP?

As of March 1, 2008, I will join the ranks of the non-preferred.

How many years have you been a CP(or similar) ?

2001 - SP Around 25k
2002 - SP Around 38K
2003 - GP Around 50K
2004 - GP Around 60K
2005 - CP Around 102K
2006 - CP Around 50K - Initiated process of burning miles.
2007 - GP

Flew around 2K in 2007.

Who will you fly next year?
Hard to say, I need to do a little sampling first. Domestically it has been US for so long it's not funny. I had 3 UA flights last year and was impressed with their service. I have a flight on DL in two weeks so it will be an interesting experience. PHL-ATL on a 757 in Y on DL vs a RJ on US for the same price.

I think Doug is either lying, believing his own spin, or using the frequent flyer equivalent of "creative accounting" to make the numbers work to his advantage....or perhaps a combination of all 3.

It's evident that this team is in panic mode now.

Huh? What, exactly indicates "panic mode"?

They claim that elite numbers are up, contradicting what anecdotal "evidence" suggests - and actions support their assertion. If elite numbers were plunging, why was "everything almost counts" cut in half and reduced to a "targeted" audience? Why was there no double PQM promo this year? Simple - numbers were up without them.

My friend was made Silver even though she only had half the needed miles.

Poof!! Instant elite!

I suspect there are plenty of cases like this.
