To be fair - this survey was purely by the numbers. It wasn't like Zagat where they actually reviewed the quality of the service. They just took a weighted average on on time, baggage mishandling, and cancellation percentages.

Also, it was only 9th worst in cancellations. (Granted - tell that to the folks whose flight wasn't cancelled but spent 23 hours in MUC)

Thanks for the links AZ.

I gotta give Tempe credit here. They worked very hard for this distinction amongst their peers.

I suppose that, for many, it does. Personally, when I clicked on the link for the story I fully expected to see US as number one, among all airlines, large or small. They'll no doubt take some comfort from the fact they're not.

I'm surprised that Mesa or Chatauqua isn't at the top. I'd sooner walk before I got on another Messy Air flight.

I clicked on your link and here is a correction to your list. US is only the 6th worst (but still the worst major)--you left out Mesa!

1. Comair
2. Atlantic Southeast
3. American Eagle
4. Mesa
5. Expressjet
6. US Airways

Zagat is running their airline survey right now, in fact. Voting is free at zagat.com, and voters get a free copy of the book when it's done.

Wow, this morning, Mesa was further down on the list. Someone (probably from Tempe ) woke up and realized, "Wait a minute, Mesa can't possibly miss this Top 5!" and demanded a recount.

Yeah, that way US can assure everyone that they are not in the top 5!

Did you notice something else about the photos? All of the photos show an example aircraft, except US Airways--its photo is that huge stack of luggage with someone looking for theirs! Is that bad Karma or what!?

Yes, I absolutely noticed that -- and had the same reaction (while shaking my head).

Subliminal messaging: The other airlines are known for flying planes (albeit late). US Airways is known for losing bags.

And DL, AA, and UA are right behind US.

You guys are just trying to hate on US. Yes it is the Bus in the Sky. But when they are right there with the other big 3 and better than their RJ providers it looks to me they are all about even in this article/list.

Delta has 1 and 2 and 5 and 9.
AA has 3 and 7.
UA has 4 and 8.
US had 4 and 6.
CO has 5.

Looks to me that Delta is by far the worse airline to fly from this. AA and US are tied as 2nd worse. UA is 3rd worse. and CO is 4th worse.

Just what I see from this...

I think BEHIND is the operative word here.

No matter how the other majors fared, US should be embarrassed to be the 6th worst.

Chautauqua is actually the best regional carrier IMO.
