US Airways miles - expired/gone

I had just recently applied and received an us airways cc. I did this to build on a small balance of 10,000 points that were in my account. Well about 2weeks later i Checksed my us air account and my balance was ZERO. Im guessing due to lack of use. I had thought opening and using an us airways cc would have been use.

Any idea who to call to see that happened to the miles? I just seem to get the automated lines.

Thanks for your help

Hi kirkpt

You're very likely right - it was probably due to lack of use that the miles were removed (it's now only 18 months of inactivity before you lose them).

The miles from your new credit card will take between 30-60 days to post after first use. I would recommend you contact the Dividend Miles Service Center (Sorry - I don't have their number handy - use the # on the web site or the online chat feature). Explain your issue - that you took out the credit card specifically to maintain your mileage balance, and hopefully they can re-credit you.

If you don't get a satisfactory resolution, try calling again later...

Good luck!

Sean

This new policy ("enhancement" of course) will take place on Dec. 1, 2006.

I have not yet received any announcement. Has anyone received an actual email or letter from US Air about this.
In addition when I check my account as I did not less than 30 seconds ago it says
"Unused miles expire after 36 months of inactivity" Right above my "Description of activity".

I personally learned about this new "enhancement" from this forum (sorry I don't have the link to the thread). If you drill WAY down in the "Program Details" - click on it in the side bar and under that click on "Dividend Miles Membership Guide" and then look under "General Terms and Conditions" and then click on"Reactivation policy" you will get the following info:
"Active membership status is based on having earned or redeemed miles within a defined period as stated below. To keep your account active, be sure to fly US Airways, apply for a US Airways MasterCard or Visa credit cards, or earn miles with one of our over 50 other partners. Learn more.

Effective December 1, 2006, active membership status is based on having earned or redeemed miles within a consecutive 18 month period. With our new Mileage Reactivation Policy, Dividend Miles members have an opportunity to reinstate their Dividend Miles accounts to active status for an additional 18 months for a $50 processing fee and reactivation fee of $.01 per mile. If members do not extend with this reactivation option, the Dividend Miles account will be closed and all miles forfeited.

Members who have no account activity for a consecutive 36 month period will have their accounts closed and will forfeit all miles in their accounts. Once forfeited, miles cannot be reinstated.

Prior to the above policy changes taking effect, 36 consecutive months of account inactivity will lead to account closure and forfeiture of all miles."
