Pushed back tonight in CLT 50 minutes ago and still 15 planes ahead of us. What the heck is going on?

I was there last night - my 10:15PM departure sat for 30-40 minutes. Pilot said it was nighttime runway construction/work/expansion that got in the way and slowed departures.

At the destination, we were only 15 minutes late so it seems some of that is programmed into the flight times.

Nonetheless, it looks like construction delays may be in the works @ CLT for a while.

They are doing construction. Interestingly, on my CLT-DCA flight, we took off on RWY 5. I had never done that before.
