New Barclaycard Mastercard acct number?!

I have a US Airways Barclaycard MasterCard that expires 1/18. I've had the account for years. Today a new card showed up in the mail, still US (not AA), still Barclaycard, still MasterCard, same exp date - but new account number. Anyone have any idea why?

My guess is that they suspect that your account has been compromised and are being proactive.

Typically cards and other correspondence are sent from different locations. I'd imagine you'll get a letter in the next couple of days.
Or of course you can call them and ask.

+1; that's happened to me several times and it's usually out of fraud concerns.

Thanks for the replies, I thought it was an airline thing, hence my post here.

What a pain in the nether regions when you have auto pays in place. Better than fraud hassles though, eh?

The number change has not affected my auto-pays usually.

Also received new plastic a few weeks ago, Barclays won't say but I'm fairly certain my card was compromised as part of the recent Home Depot hack. Interestingly, I also received a related phishing email as well as a fraudulent phone call referring to my old card #. Scary stuff.
