Totally agree. I find it totally inappropriate that the FA grabbed your legs and moved them. OTOH, I don't think you have any recourse about the iPad - it's unfortunate but I don't see it's being the FA's fault. The leg thing is really bizarre, though!

Were you in seat 10F? Had the FA already asked if the "do you qualify to sit in the exit row" questions?

I wasn't there so I don't pretend to know why or what but here's food for thought. Tapping a passenger on the shoulder is much easier and quicker than trying to move someone's legs. For the FA to make the conscious choice of taking the more difficult approach, I have to believe the FA was trying to be nice and considerate and not wake the OP.
It's not like the FA kicked or tapped the OP's legs, the FA had to bend down, lift the legs and physically move them. No one's going to do that if they didn't care about the passenger.
Just goes to show no good deed goes unpunished. As for the ipad, as noted it could just as easily fallen with no FA intervention so falling asleep with it on your lap isn't a good idea. I think it's just one of those unfortunate things and was an accident to I wouldn't expect US to pay. Also, can't you get a new screen on ebay relatively cheaply?

Just because it could have happened on its own excuses the FA's actions that caused it to happen?
So drunk driver rams into family killing 4 on a wet night. Well they could have slid off embankment and died anyway. Drunk driver, you are off the hook because it could have happened anyway.

Sometimes things are just an accident. There isn't always negligence and malicious intent involved. Good grief!!

Really? That's the pathetic analogy you are going to use to exonerate the OP? We are not talking about something as tragic as someone losing their life. We are talking about a cracked ipad that can probably be repaired for less than $50.

Falling asleep with the Ipad on the OP's lap is the root cause. From that point anything that causes the Ipad to fall can result in a cracked screen. Moving one's legs while asleep or whatever. Put it somewhere secure before going to sleep next time.

The FA had NO business moving the passenger's legs. This unwarranted movement of the legs caused the passenger to be started (sounds quite reasonable), directly leading to the ipad falling and breaking.
Absolutely make a claim to US!

The facts are the iPad fell and broke. Assigning blame to either the OP or FA is not possible for even the OP -if you are sleeping - how could one even know the cause with certainty?
The beauty of big data is airlines will cull such complaints into CRM and tag such complaints, and, eventually, alter service behavior and perks to such customers accordingly. Since people will give up their identities and personal information for 1 penny Reichsmiles or faux status, we have made it easy for them to do this.

I don't think there's a security risk but there may be a safety risk. There are certain responsibilities that come with sitting in the exit row. You can't assist with an emergency evacuation if you're sleeping or in a daze after waking up.
I'm not suggesting passengers shouldn't sleep in the exit row, but they need to be awake and alert during takeoff and landing.

To add to your comment, I actually also don't think passengers in the exit rows should be served alcohol because it could impair them in the event of a safety situation. The leg room comes with a responsibility and sleeping and drinking should not be the norm.
