Standby Question

Apologies if this has been asked elsewhere, did a search and wasn't able to find this scenario exactly:

Booked an award ticket using US miles that includes a JFK-LAX-SFO leg on AA in F. Ideally, would like to be on the JFK-SFO direct. Is it possible to standby once I get to the airport if there's space on the direct?

Thanks!

Same day change US to AA metal?

Flying in a few weeks with my mom (same PNR) Lax-Clt-Lhr confirmed in FC/Biz the whole way using my SWU
Can I try for the AA non stop or even an earlier AA thru Ord or Dfw?
Always been a little foggy on the Sdc rules when Us is involved and upgrades
Any advice and tips are welcome Thanks !

I doubt this would work until both airlines have merged completely. FWIW I was at the gate in CLT the other day waiting to board for DFW on an LAA flight, with LAA staff. Several people approached the GA who were ticketed on a later US flight that had been delayed, and were trying to get on my LAA flight. All were told they could only standby on another US flight, as the two companies are still operating separately as far as same day changes go.

You cannot SDC across different metal. They still maintain different change programs: SDC for AA, MoveUp for US.

Unless something has recently changed that I'm not aware of, US doesn't allow MoveUp for TA flights.

As others have noted, there isn't anything setup to move between US and AA flights, except perhaps for weather or other irrops issues.

This is my recent experience as well - you can't move between metal unless it is due to AA's fault, and even then it's difficult.

As mentioned earlier, you can't, but you can always try to call in and request it anyway.

The other day I had a passenger who was ticketed MIA-CLT-STL on AA*/US and the phone agent let her change to the nonstop MIA-STL AA flight even though changes of routing are not permitted and the itinerary wasn't eligible in the first place because it was a codeshare. There's a lot of confusion as the merger wraps up and you may as well try to use it to your advantage.

Those who got changes, got changes with the change fee waived (or were on flexible tickets). That is a lot different than SDC/MoveUp. The former may work if you hit the right agent. The latter can't work as the system isn't programed for it.

The key to making these things work is to simply ask for what you want without using jargon such as SDC. If you simply ask if it's possible to be put on the other flight, you might get it.

Isn't the same day change policy supposed to be the same effective 10/17 regardless of whether it is AA or US operated since all flights will be under AA from that date on?

I didn't think SDC was ever available on international flights, regardless.

BA award on AA Metal today

I'm first class on a late flight out of MCO to DFW tonight. Going to the airport early to see if I can get an earlier flight on this BA award. Will report back.

AS / Alaska Same-Day Change the Day Prior for EXPs?

For $25, Alaska Airlines allows anyone a same-day change up to 6 hours before the desired flight. But AS Mileage Plan members can initiate a same-day change online the previous day after 10 pm. Does this also apply to AA EXPs and Plats with their AA number in the reservation? If not, can you call AS the day before and quote your non-status MP number while still retaining AA elite privileges?

The page on aa.com regarding AAdvantage Statusholders benefits on Alaska Airlines make no mention of such a benefit. Link.
