Now all we need is a glitch that opens up space on LH, SQ, and NZ.:)

Yes! :)

Yeah, I just can't get myself to pull the trigger if we are really going to find these miles in a new program in the next 6 months with likely increased non-domestic award prices and even worse, those huge additional per-segment fees (up to almost $400 according to the AA chart!) if you want to fly on BA or Iberia.

If I buy the Dividend miles under this promotion will they transfer to my Aadvantage account after the merger?

tangel Aug 1, 2013 9:19 am

I can't imagine how they wouldn't transfer.

planeluvr Aug 1, 2013 9:23 am

So many cheaper ways to get that amount of miles. To each his own.

Um, hello, CX? Every bit as good as SQ if you ask me, without all the games SQ plays with *A award inventory that makes you go .

We'd also get access to EY as well.

Yes, it's sad that US HUACA Award Lotto won't work, the award chart and rules will change in some detrimental ways and that Europe will be harder to get to. But there will be tradeoffs that work in our favor as well (like CX; their award inventory is reasonable), and some that are even really nice (like being able to get free North American gateway stopovers on one-ways or oneworld explorer awards).

On balance, AA isn't a horrible program (read: DL Skypesos™), and I think it's reasonably likely we won't be hosed in the merger (one of the few things the UA/CO merger did that was nice was improve some things about UA's program- *Net blocking went away and the routing rules got better).

All that being said... AV is selling miles for 1.5 CPM. ;)

AV?

How do we know that the USDM miles will have a 1:1 ratio with AA?

Avianca. *A member from last year.

This is a good round-up of the program opportunity by gleff.

We don't know, but I am not aware of any North American FF program merger where miles weren't matched 1:1. The two most comparable mergers recently (UA/CO and DL/NW) matched miles at 1:1. An outright balance devaluation (as opposed to adjusting mileage requirements ;)) would be quite unfriendly to customers who might be skittish about a merger, and could be looking for an excuse to defect to another airline, don't you think?

From New York Times 10 April 2013

http://travel.nytimes.com/2013/04/14...anted=all&_r=0

American Airlines plans to keep its loyalty program, AAdvantage. That means the US Airways program, Dividend Miles, will be dissolved, and its members will be absorbed into AAdvantage. Mr. Parker said there would be a one-to-one transfer of miles (one Dividend mile will equal one AAdvantage mile), swelling American’s program to more than 100 million members.
