Woman punches male FA in face on US 2051, PHL-MIA; draws blood
Two of my friends are on this flight right now, but it's still on the ground at PHL. The flight was already delayed, and they witnessed a woman punch a male FA in the face. The FA was bleeding and was removed from the plane.
The assailant claimed that she was angry because her flights had been delayed.

When in doubt, punch someone to speed up your departure. Jeez.
As of a few minutes ago, 2051 showed a delay of 65 min, which isn't even too bad.

They need to "throw the book " at this idiot. I hope I'm wrong but I bet nothing will happen & as much as I hate to say this unless something has changed since I retired not even sure US will back the crew member.

US may not have to back the crew member since the assault was likley witnessed by plenty of pax. But US should support its employees when something like this happens.

It's PHL and the Eagles lost yesterday. The defense rests.
But really, bold move punching an FA with a bunch of witnesses.

That passenger should be required to pay the FA's medical bills and be placed on the no-fly-list.

US Air or the FA union better back him up and ask that th epax be prosecuted.
" But your Honor, my clent was under tremendous stress due to XXXXXYYYYY and when the FA told her to suck it in, she while being in danger of assault, took the first punch..."

A FA on the flight told my friend that assaulting a member of the flight crew is only a federal offense if the flight is in the air. (This incident occurred before takeoff.) Does anyone know if what the FA is claiming is true?
