I saw some posts on TPG about transferring MR-->Aeroplan-->US Airways. Ratio is 100 MR--> 100 Aeoroplan --> 84 US airways. That was in 2012. can you still do it now?

This still worked in Jan, I have no reason to believe it would no longer work. Check on points.com with a fake transfer. It's a nice option to move AmEx MR to US.

I did. I moved 103k mr to about 86k us airways. Took three transactions since you are limited to 50k per transaction. Took about a day each.

What are the specific instances when losing ~15% of your MR points is beneficial by using this method to get them into US?
I do recall there may be some fees that AC charges on some international flights that perhaps US does not charge which would make this transfer worthwhile?
I have a lot of MR points, and was planning to just use them on AC for *A international travel in business or first, so would love to hear if there are better options through US that make more sense, taking into account losing ~15% of your MR points to do so.

No fuel surcharges, and also the award chart has certain regions that are more favourable on US, even with the 15% deficit.

I didn't know about this, but thank you.
Also, I can make up the 16% loss by the 20% gain for dividend miles select (5,000 miles off any award booking on US Airways metal).

I transferred 90k Aeroplan to US about 10 days ago and they have not yet shown up. I made both transfers on the same day (50 & 40k for a total of about 75k US). I have now had a zero balance in my Aeroplan account for 4 days, but my US balance has not increased. When I click on the my account section at points.com the transactions show "under review". Points.com say that the transfers can take up to 7 days. I have emailed them and will update this thread when they reply. Anyone else having this problem?

US Airways not currently showing as an exchange partner in Points.com. Hope this is not a permanent move. Any insight?

Did you already transfer 100k miles this year? That's the limit written on points.com, maybe they drop US Airways as an option after you do the 100k?

I checked with points.com through their live chat and the rep said there is a technical issue and they're trying to resolve it.
