I think what is really interesting is, the people over on the AA board, just HATE parker... Why?? He has done a great JOB at US, just becasue the pilots on the east side can't play well with others, doesn't mean Parker doesn't know what he is doing...
I know for me, it is a WIN/WIN...

Lsat Day to Buy Up to Preferred
The merger will close on December 9th. Does anyone know the last day to "buy up" to preferred?
Just because a company merges doesn't mean that everything will be integrated by December 9th.

I could not agree more, btw, did you make it on the committee? If so, suggest the new airline to offer a brunch service.. There are some flights that leave in that window of 9ish AM and to serve a lunch on that flight is just too heavy...

There was a pretty long gap between the customer-facing merger and the merged certificate, and for a few months any pmNW flight had to be booked as a codeshare. The DL reservation agents couldn't really figure out what to do with those flights, and ended up having to call pmNW agents -- but customers weren't allowed to talk to pmNW agents directly.
The final straw for me was probably the day when a DL phone rep booked me into a negative connection (first segment arrived an hour after the second departed) on what should have been a simple weather waiver change -- then hung up on me when she realized the mistake she'd made.
There were also some pretty humorous incidents I witnessed at DTW where all the signage and uniforms were changed despite the airlines essentially being separate. Watching a (pmNW) agent, in a Delta uniform, at a Delta counter, telling a customer they'd have to talk to a Delta rep to fix their issue...that was amusing.

To be fair, that merger wasn't perfect either; it just looks that way in hindsight considering the debacle at UA. I had maintained status with both NW and US prior to the merger, but gave up on DL as flying on US was much smoother.

Admirals Club, United Club
Has there been any chatter as to when USAirways Club members will be welcomed at Admirals Club locations, and vice versa, when United Club will stop welcoming same?

As a DC-based short haul DCA (US) and long haul IAD flyer (UA), I am not liking this merger at all.

If I want to reserve a ticket on US Airways after the merger, will it be vaild?
I want to reserve a flight end of December on US Air. If the merge between American and US is scheduled to finish by Dec. 9th, will my ticket from US still be valid to travel?

Yes. The merger is closing on December 9. Integrating the two airlines will take a lot longer. Regardless of timing, your ticket will be valid.
Out of curiosity, why would it not be valid? If your flight gets changed, you'll be notified and given an opportunity to accept or reject any changes, and pulling out of a market should not happen in this merger.

Yes, your US ticket would still be valid. AA and US would still operate as two separate carriers until the FAA grants a single-operating certificate, which could take a year or two.

Thanks for the replies and you all answered my question. I guess what I meant to say, was if there would still be two separate carriers...rather than all the planes being American. But now I know!

A ticket bought on US, for transportation on US metal (including Express) should be good for as far ahead as you can buy it - 330 days. At some point in the integration of US and AA all outstanding US tickets will become AA tickets. Be prepared for possible flight changes for tickets bought months ahead as the two route systems/schedules are integrated, but the ticket will still be good for travel.
