Happy Holidays from Flight62
 

I would like to take a moment to wish each and every one of you a very happy Holiday Season. No matter what your affiliation, much love and happiness now and for 2013.

For those that don't know, I am off work until February 2 (est.) I was diagnosed with lymphoma in October and am being treated. When we were wearing our pink ties, I noticed my lymph nodes were swelling and doing so quickly. Enough that I couldn't bare wearing the tie or buttoning my shirt. Eventually I went to a specialist who, after a biopsy (butch lil scar now), discovered it was large B cell lymphoma and it was spreading fast. The one mass was the size of my fist.

Good news is the faster cancer cells divide, the better it reacts to chemo. The mass began to shrink quickly and the pain caused by the tumor seized. I have had 2 treatments and have 2 more..next one Dec 20...ugh! But with no radiation, it hasn't been bad. Many days I actually feel pretty good, but the job of a F/A is not good when you have a compromised immune system, so work isn't an option. Imagine those that get on the airplane sick? And that's just the other f/a's. lol

This is my second bout of cancer in two years. I'm keeping the faith and hoping for a return to work in February, but my health comes first and I'm not going to rush or go full on.

I am blessed to have so many wonderful friends and family who have been supportive. I am truly bless this holiday season.

My wish for all of you. Be a bit kinder to one another. And be more thankful for what you have.

Flight62, your strength of character is quite evident! You have my best wishes as you go through your treatments during your time off. My family is no stranger to cancer so I am glad to hear you are surrounded by supportive friends and family!

so sorry to hear about it but glad you made the connection and got to a diagnosis.

I do not know who you are, but I feel so very connected to you through years of reading your posts and thoughtful commentary. Thus, I had a pang when I read this as if a close personal friend.

I wish for you the best of responses to treatment, the speediest of recoveries and, permanent remission. My thoughts are with you 62!
