My last miles upgrade for TATL flight (April) suffered this exact scenario. I had to wait till after 11pm the day before my morning flight, to call and grab an upgrade.

Tried to find GoEnvoy (or it's new name GoBusiness) on the US website and couldn't find it so they may have discontinued that. GoFirst was still there. It's hard to believe that Parker would pass up a chance to sell any leftover Business seats though.

I called US today to ask about GoEnvoy. It's still offered (at least for a flight in a few months); pricing seems to have gone way up though: $900+ for the upgrade for one trans-Atlantic flight I priced.

GoEnvoy may be phasing out. I now receive these updates on my NPR.
This one for a flight in April PBI - FRA

Business Class seats may be available on your flight to Frankfurt, Germany - FRA
Sit up front for $999

And this one today, FRA - PBI

Business Class seats may be available on your flight to Philadelphia, PA - PHL
Sit up front for $749

Note the difference in pricing for the different route.

Upgrade offer US 728

Hello everyone:

I am flying PHL-LHR on Thursday 06/26. I received an e-mail from US airways offering me the chance at an upgrade (i.e. if space is available I will be upgraded and charged) for $1,049 for the 7 hr. 10 min. flight.

Is this a good deal? Would I be able to get a better price by talking to the ticketing agent at check in on the day of departure? Please advise. Thanks!

Here is the detail of the information I was sent:

Business Class seats may be available on your flight to London, United Kingdom - LHR
Sit up front for $1049

Would you rather sit in Business Class? For your upcoming trip to London, United Kingdom - LHR, there may be seats available on the Philadelphia, PA - PHL to London, United Kingdom - LHR flight. You'll enjoy more legroom, priority check-in, early boarding and no charge for your 2nd checked bag – a $100 value.*

We’re offering you the option to upgrade to Business Class for $1049. Add yourself to the upgrade list by midnight PT on June 23, 2014.

Here's how it works:
Upgrades are first-come, first-served
If we have a seat available 2 days before your flight, we'll upgrade you to Business Class
We'll charge the credit card you used to book your ticket after you're upgraded
You'll get an email about the upgrades 2 days before your flight
Add yourself to the list

June 23, 2014 at midnight PT is the deadline to sign up.

More about Business Class:
Priority check-in, boarding and baggage handling
More personal space, privacy and legroom
Restaurant-style meals and award-winning wines
Hours of movies, TV and music – all on demand

Yes, time do vary. I have upgrade within 48 hours but on other routes I have had to wait till within 12 hours of the flight time.

Prices also seem to vary. CLT-FRA have been as low as $699 and up to $999. Most recently, FRA-PHL was $749.

Okay. I'm doing PHL-FRA on Wednesday and there seem to be 4 Envoy seats available. Is the $300/30,000 miles option still around?

They're asking $788 for PHL-FRA on July 2... just a data point
Also the $300/30,000 miles is only for revenue flights, can't do it on rewards flights according to the phone agent.

I used the $300/30,000dm for my FRA-PHL flight last Friday. I had to wait till 23hr before flight time as that option was not opened till then.

Did you use it on an award flight?

No, on a revenue seat. I don't think you can upgrade using DMs for an award seat.
