Hello All,

HAs anyone ever recieved an upgrade due to a missed connection..?? We are flying from KBUF in February, to AUA, with a 1 1/2 hr connection in CLT. Is this enough time to make it..??

Not sure what your question is, but here goes:

1. Yes, 90 mins. is way more than the MCT for CLT. Needless to say, as with all schedules, if your xBUF flight is too late, you will miss your connection.

2. If you are on a single itinerary (in other words, one ticket from BUF-AUA) and you miss your connection, US will rebook you on the next available flight to AUA. If you are UG-eligible and there is space, you may get it.

3. If you are on separate tickets and miss your connection, although US has no obligation to do so, US as a practical matter will rebook you on the next available flight as well. The key issue is when and where you stand in the rebook priority. If you are on a single ticket, the system will flag a misconnect, perhaps while you are still in the air and rebook you before you land. If you are on separate tickets, US has no way of knowing that you are inbound and treats you the same as a pax originating in CLT. If the seats on the next flight are already gone, there are none available.

4. There is nothing you can do to plan for MX because it happens, but watch the WX. As long as there aren't delays, you will have plenty of time for a leisurely stroll to your xCLT gate and time for a stop at the Club or a cup of coffee along the way.

Yes for the connecting time.

Whether you'd be upgraded on CLT-AUA if missing your connection depends on a number of factors:

1) Are you preferred on US where you can get into first so long as there is availability?
2) If not, you'd likely only be upgraded to first from coach if first were available when coach was not. Statistically, the opposite is more common.

As noted by others, you should be fine on the connection so long as a delay out of BUF didn't exceed 45-60 minutes.

Also, not sure what you are asking. But, if you are asking if one mis-connects and only available alternate service is in F/C will airline upgrade you for that. Perhaps, but not likely. You would probably end up flying standby for coach. If they end up with full coach but an empty upfront, they would probably upgrade an FT in back and give you her/his coach seat.

FWIW, I was trying to go standby on a flight yesterday that had plenty of first class seats available (and I am Preferred and was hoping for one), yet coach was oversold. The gate agents just moved passengers up from coach to FC and didn't take any standbys.

So I'd say that it's possible to get upgraded if that's the only space available.
